Penny Waite Fund
Penny Waite was the founder and driving force behind the National Certification Program for dental assistants. The National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) continues to promote and maintain this worthwhile initiative on behalf of dental assistants across Canada. The Penny Waite Fund (PWF) was established to honour this former CDAA President (1965-1966) and her commitment to education.
The purpose of this fund is to support professional development initiatives aligning with the promotion of oral health and dental assisting education. It is intended for a Dental Assistant furthering his/her education through enrollment in post secondary dental assisting study.
To be eligible, the applicant will be a dental assistant or dental assisting student who holds current membership in his/her provincial and national dental assisting associations. The applicant will demonstrate his/her commitment to the community or the dental assisting profession through volunteer efforts. The applicant must be a Canadian citizen.
The application must be made on the PWF form and will be accompanied by:
- A professional resume
- A letter of reference from an individual who may speak to the professional integrity and contribution of the applicant
- A statement from the applicant indicating association and community involvement initiatives.
The information submitted should form the basis for the CDAA Board to judge the individual’s performance in the areas of academic achievement, community service and involvement in organized dental assisting.
