Dental Assisting News from the U.S.: Dental Assisting Board AGM Recap
The Dental Assisting National Board, Inc. Board of Directors held its annual meeting Aug. 16-17, 2013. DANB policy regarding reinstatement of lapsed credentials has been updated to reduce the time by which a candidate must apply for reinstatement to 12 months after the certification expired.
Several changes have been made regarding the period candidates are allowed to reschedule a missed exam. The Board approved changes to the Radiation Health and Safety exam blueprints. DANB will be conducing a national job analysis on the Radiation Health and Safety exam in 2013 and the Infection Control exam in 2014. On June 17, DANB hosted a forum to discuss the proposed parameters of its new certification program: Certified Entry Level Dental Assistant (CELDA). Representatives and other individuals from DANB’s communities of interest attended the forum.
