Entry to Practice

“Alberta Dental Assistants: Entry to practice education and role expansion,” by Ardene Robinson Vollman, PhD RN and Susan vander Heide, RDA

  • In 2010 the College of Alberta Dental Assistants sent out an email survey to dental assistants throughout the province to gather their opinions on the quality of dental assisting training and education, work experiences and practices and role expansion. Most respondents identified gaps in education, including gaps in infection control, medications and First Aid.  In general, respondents felt that their career paths were limited and would be supportive of expanding the role of dental assistants.   To read the manuscript, click here.
