Ending of Home and Auto Insurance Advantages to Ontario Dental Assistants

As Ontario law stipulates strict conditions on the granting of group discounts and advantages in the insurance business, it is with great regret that the Canadian Dental Assistants Association (CDAA) and TD Insurance Meloche Monnex must announce the end of preferential rates on home and auto insurance for dental assistants in the province of Ontario.

The end of this service comes as a result of the change in relationship between the Ontario Dental Assistants Association (ODAA) and the Canadian Dental Assistants Association. In 2011, the Ontario Dental Assistants Association gave notice that it intended to end its membership in the Canadian Dental Assistants Association, effective January 1, 2012.

As there are no individual members of CDAA, dental assistants are represented via their provincial association. By virtue of their provincial body being an Organizational Member of CDAA, individual dental assistants are able to profit from group discounts on a variety of services. With ODAA’s withdrawal from the CDAA federation, the insurance benefits Ontario dental assistants have accessed must, unfortunately, come to an end.

On behalf of CDAA, I wish to thank the hundreds of Ontario dental assistants who have participated in this program over the years supporting the national association that represents the profession. We look forward to the day when the same can occur with the Ontario Dental Assistants Association.

Should you have any questions or concerns about this matter, please feel free to contact us. For any questions relating to the effect of this development on your insurance rates, please contact your TD Insurance Meloche Monnex representative.
